Dr. D’Ambrosio Named a Finalist for Physician of the Year

The Gamma Knife Center’s Anthony D’Ambrosio, M.D., has been named a finalist for Physician of the Year in the 2012 Healthcare Heroes Awards, presented by the business publication NJBIZ. The Healthcare Heroes awards program honors individuals and organizations making a significant impact on the quality of health care in New Jersey. As director of Valley’s Neuro-Oncology Disease Management Team and co-director of the Gamma Knife Center, Dr. D’Ambrosio was instrumental in opening The Gamma Knife Center, northern New Jersey’s first Gamma Knife stereotactic radiosurgery center to treat brain tumors without open surgery.

Anthony D’Ambrosio, M.D.Finalists were elected in 11 categories by an independent panel of judges that includes leaders in the health care industry, higher education and patient care advocacy. The Valley Hospital has also been named a finalist in three other categories, including Hospital of the Year, recognizing the hospital’s initiatives to improve patient care quality, efficiency, cost effectiveness and health care delivery.

The Valley Hospital’s finalists and others will be recognized and the winners will be announced during a breakfast awards ceremony on June 19 at the Palace in Somerset Park in Somerset, N.J.
