Dr. D’Ambrosio Addresses Treatment Options for Trigeminal Neuralgia at Community Health Event

Anthony D’Ambrosio, M.D., Co-Director of the Gamma Knife Center and Associate Director of Neuroscience at The Valley Hospital, recently spoke to members of the community on the causes, symptoms and treatments for trigeminal neuralgia, a neurological condition resulting in severe facial pain.

As Dr. D’Ambrosio explained, identifying and treating the source of pain is not always as easy as resetting a broken bone after an X-ray reveals a fracture. Some pain, like that caused by chronic neurological conditions, like trigeminal neuralgia, requires the newest treatments and technology.

Among the many new treatments available is gamma knife radiosurgery, which is less invasive than other types of surgery and carries with it lower risks of side effects.
