Brain Metastases Treatment, By the Numbers

When it comes to treating brain metastases at the Gamma Knife Center, there’s strength in our numbers: Through December 2013 (the latest date for which data is available), the Gamma Knife Center has treated 182 brain metastases in 63 patients. The center’s high patient volume is a testament to the expertise of our staff, who deliver personalized, highly targeted treatment for tumors that metastasize to the brain.

The charts below show the breakdown of the number of brain metastases treated per gamma knife treatment session, as well as the primary tumor sites among our patients:

“In the majority of patients, we can design a focused treatment strategy for each individual tumor while sparing healthy parts of the brain,” notes Gamma Knife Center Co-Director Anthony D’Ambrosio, M.D. “This approach has demonstrated positive effects on survival, memory and quality of life.”

In addition to brain metastases, physicians at the Gamma Knife Center can treat acoustic neuromas, trigeminal neuralgia and other conditions.
