Gamma Knife radiosurgery is not a type of surgery at all and does not involve any incisions or scalpels. Instead, it is a relatively noninvasive form of radiation therapy performed in an outpatient setting. Gamma Knife is a form of stereotactic radiosurgery, which uses approximately 200 individual beams of minutely focused radiation that can be targeted at a highly specific area for treatment.
