Valley Gamma Knife Center highlighted in international magazine
The Gamma Knife Center at The Valley Hospital was chosen to be highlighted in the latest issue of Wavelength, an international magazine published by the manufacturer of Gamma Knife, Elekta. The magazine, which is distributed to more than 20,000 health care professionals globally, asked centers around the world to share what makes them unique.

Esteemed AVM specialist visits The Gamma Knife Center
Douglas Kondziolka, M.D., vice chair of clinical research at the NYU Langone Medical Center’s neurosurgery department and head of its Center for Advanced Radiosurgery, recently met with Valley neurosurgery experts at The Gamma Knife Center to discuss their plan for a patient being treated for an arteriovenous malformation (AVM).

Gamma Knife treatment for AVMs
About 300,000 Americans have what’s called arteriovenous malformations (AVMs), essentially flaws in the circulatory system that most likely develop in the womb or soon after birth. These tangles of arteries and veins keep blood from passing normally from arteries to veins, increasing the odds of bleeding in the brain, aneurysms and brain damage.
